Important Dates and Reminders:

-4/17 - Grandparents Day - Noon Dismissal.  If a grandparent is unable to attend we suggest asking a good friend, or someone who your child views as a special person in their life.  If you prefer to keep your child at home that day because they do not have a Grandparent or special friend to attend please let me know in advance.  Please let me know if you have any questions!

Content and Curriculum:

Next Week during Writing Workshop we will continue with our poetry writing unit.  The poem topics have included snakes, months, lemurs, hearts and many more.  Lessons next week will focus on how poets see ordinary things through poets eyes.  They will use their five senses to tell more about their topics and hopefully even get to some partner poetry writing.

During reading our lessons will focus on the metacognition strategy of inferencing.  We will be using picture clues and story context to "read between the lines".

We will also finish our math subtraction chapter next week.  We will then move into a chapter focusing on nonstandard measurement.  Important vocabulary you can reinforce at home includes: heavy, heavier, light, lighter, holds more, holds less, holds the same amount, more time and less time.
