Almost There!
We don't have a countdown going in the classroom, but in their heads they have all sorts of countdowns going - until Christmas, until the last day of school before break, until their birthday, until Hanukkah, until they just get to stay home for a few days and spend time with family! Your countdowns are likely a bit different - until you need to have big meals ready, until you have to have gifts wrapped, until you have to have bags packed to travel, and much more. As stressful as this time of year is, it is also one of the happiest. I genuinely hope your holidays are filled with time spent in front of the fire, candy, and great family and friends.

"Because every child deserves to be
SAFE, STRONG AND FREE."
-Front Range CAP
Last night Front Range CAP, Center for Assault Prevention, led a parent class informing parents on the workshop they will be running in our Kindergarten classroom on Monday 12/8 and Tuesday 12/9. The class last night was very powerful and frankly difficult to sit through as they discussed different scenarios. The workshop next week for Kindergarten will be held in two parts. The first day on bully situations and stranger awareness. The second day will focus on trusted adult situations. We had several parents who attended the class last night who would be happy to share more about the experience if you have further questions. Please see Susan Schmidt, Leanna Sultan, Annie Jordan or Andi or John Freyer. Here is also a direct link to the CAP Parent Resource Packet that you may want to look through prior to the workshops on Monday and Tuesday so you can continue the conversations at home. http://www.frontrangecap.org/resource_packet.html

Content and Curriculum:
Next week in math we will continue to plug our way through Chapter 8 in Math In Focus. Please see the parent letter in the Take Home Folders this afternoon for ideas how to support their learning at home. Please also remember to get your child signed up for Dreambox. We will begin having some dedicated classroom time for Dreambox when we return in January. However, feel free to get your child playing now! They can play either on a desktop/laptop or using the Dreambox iPad app.
During Writing Workshop next week we will continue our small moment writing. Lessons are focused on writing about a small part of your day rather than a whole day. This goes hand in hand with reading and identifying the main idea in a selection. Our Word Wall Words for next week are: come, me. We will begin our third unit in Journeys next week. The third unit increases the number of Word Wall Words learned per week from one to two words. The words already mastered should be: and, a, I, like, see, the, to, we.
Enjoy some pictures from this week!
